Checkmate: This Is War – Audiobook Online

In “Checkmate: This Is War” by Kennedy Fox, the story revolves around Travis King and Viola Fisher. Travis, who is Viola’s older brother’s best friend and roommate, is portrayed as an arrogant man who taunts Viola for being a good girl and mocks her high standards. Despite having had a crush on Travis since she was young, their relationship is filled with animosity and tension. Viola despises Travis for his manwhore ways and the hurtful words she overheard him say about her when she was younger. However, circumstances force them to spend time together during Viola’s spring break, leading to a complex dynamic between them that involves hate, desire, and unresolved feelings from the past.

As they navigate their complicated emotions and confront their shared history, Travis and Viola find themselves entangled in a passionate yet tumultuous relationship that challenges their perceptions of each other. The story delves into themes of love, forgiveness, trust, and self-discovery as the characters grapple with their conflicting emotions and the consequences of their actions.

Travis King is the worst kind of a**hole.

He mocked me for being a good girl and mocked my high standards.

He is cruel, rude, and has enough self-confidence to last two lifetimes.

And I hate him.

It wouldn’t be much of a problem if he could avoid it.

But since he’s my brother’s best friend and roommate, I see him more than I would like.

His toned abs and beautiful eyes were wasted on such an arrogant man, which made me hate him even more.

Even though I had a crush on him since I was 10 years old, the feelings were not mutual and he made that very clear.

He always liked to get under my skin, and one night, against my better judgment, I let him into my bed.

I succumbed to his manly ways, but that didn’t change anything.

Because the King is about to play his own game – and lose.

I love Travis and Viola’s story, it’s a great enemy to the lovers’ romance and more. I really like Kennedy Fox’s writing style, the plot and characters she created were very interesting, drew me in and held my attention from start to finish. I finished with “The Checkmate Duet: Travis & Viola,” starting with “Checkmate: This is War,” and that was a start. Travis King is the roommate and best friend of Viola’s older brother. They themselves struggled at times, but that was when they were young. Viola still loves him but hates what he does to her, tormenting, teasing and ravaging her any time he can. She started giving what she received. This is an angst-filled story, they keep pushing each other’s buttons but then something gives and it turns into something more. The chemistry between them is undeniable, it’s hot and real. I loved the way things unfolded in this book, there was never a dull moment with plenty of drama, anxiety, some twists, some laughter, lots of emotions and a bit of hot romance. This ends on a cliffhanger, so be sure to have the second book “Checkmate: This is Love” handy because you’ll want to know what and why. Sorry, no spoilers here but I will say, Kennedy Fox does not disappoint as she continues to make it into the second part of Travis and Viola’s story with plenty of drama, tension, twists and turns. buttons, lots of emotions and some hotter romance. I’m looking forward to the next Checkmate Duet in this series, Drew and Courtney’s story, I love those two. Kennedy Fox, thank you for this wonderful book and emotional roller coaster ride
