Do you think the audio version of A Regimental Murder is better than the print version?

Right! Narrator James Gillies reads this novel so compellingly that he really brings the action and the characters to life. I bought Kindle versions of the first three Captain Lacey mysteries, but chose to listen to them rather than read them all because I enjoyed his narration so much.

Which character – played by James Gillies – is your favorite character?

All of them. The narrator is incredibly good at discerning each character’s tone and way of speaking, so I’m never confused as to which character I’m listening to. As another reviewer mentioned, James Gillies doesn’t dramatically change the pitch of his voice for female characters, but I find that a huge plus. I often have trouble hearing a male narrator when the female voice is very high. I found the narrator’s interpretation of this book so engaging that I didn’t want to stop listening!

I enjoyed this book, as well as the Captain Lacey mystery before it. I have started book 3 and look forward to hearing the rest of the series.
