Every year I vow to give up reading Stephanie Plum’s series, and every year I read the next one I find myself deeply disappointed. My teenage daughter loves the series and requested the book for Christmas. She loves it. I did not.

I think this is the weakest of the series. The crime element is very poorly written. It seems very rushed and not formed. Even the love triangle element is deflated in this episode. The random characters are all bland and cartoonish, nothing more to say. Evanovich had cornered himself. The characters are nothing but caricatures, nothing has happened to propel them forward in terms of plot or development and in trying to maintain the status quo, the books have lost all luster. , all the charm and whatever makes them enjoy reading.
