The French Admiral / Alan Lewrie, Book 2, Audiobook Online By: Dewey Lambdin
It was 1781, and the British-held American port of Yorktown on the Chesapeake Bay was under siege. Attacked by American colonists on land and by deadly French ally warships at sea, the once-proud city was engulfed in flames and almost in ruins.
But on the horizon, the King’s fleet of heavily armed frigates would sail past the French blockade. Aboard His Majesty’s agile flagship DESPERATE, lieutenant Alan Lewrie quickly let his gunners do their deadly job, firing quick 24-pound rounds at enemy ships. Cannonballs light up the deadly night when the fate of the King’s Colony depends on the bravery of a young feeder soldier leading his ships into fierce battles.
“Jack Aubrey, Stephen Maturin, Horatio Hornblower, and now Alan Lewrie – the four new Musketeers.”
I just finished The Gun Ketch as well as book 1, 5, 4 in the Alan Lewrie Series. Dewey Lambdin was great! The best rowing writer I have found so far. I’ve listened to the full Alexander Kent Bolitho series as well as the full Master and Commander, Hornblower, Two years before the mast and many more.
Performance is excellent. The story is great. Lurey is an adult, but still gets herself into trouble. This cond book is not as gruesome as the first books, with less erotic depiction, but still at times obscene and grossly erotic. The boating and fighting story is amazing and detailed. Lurey’s characters are well developed and the storyline is logical and based on real historical events. I will continue the series.
