Miami attorney Jack Swyteck finds himself in the midst of an international war over an oil spill in Cuba, prompting him to go on a deadly mission.

Three summers after the Deepwater Horizon environmental disaster, oil spewed back into the ocean, this time from an explosion in Cuban waters just 50 miles from the Florida Keys. Look up directions to the United States, but the Cubans offered to assist in the cleanup and warned of opening fire on “enemy” US ships entering their waters. Backing the Cubans is a powerful corporation that operates and operates drills, and has contacts with key Chinese, Russian and Venezuelan regulators who thwart all requests and efforts to seek assistance.

Jack and his new wife, Andie Henning, an FBI agent, are honeymooning in the Keys when Andie is called on a mission shrouded in secrecy. Jack also soon returned to work, representing a woman whose Cuban husband was killed in an explosion. Even though the oil spill occurred in foreign waters, Jack relied on all his legal know-how to file a false claim in a US court.
