Adrian Tchaikovsky presents to us an end of time situation for the mother earth as we see human dying and earth destroyed completely. The children of time series start with a pessimistic scene as the remnants from the mother earth leave it forever. In the very next moment we are struck with hope as well when we are informed that there is another earth waiting for the human race that they can occupy and make their next permanent residence. 

The only thing the humans have to do is to follow the direction map laid by their ancestors. The new earth was prepared a long time ago when the ancestors of the human race found the planet that had everything the human race needed except for the creatures that were there. The planet was never without the inhabitant population but that was something that was kept hidden from the people of the earth. The architects from the earth tried to make the inhabitants their slaves and now it’s time for their children to bear fruit of their ill doings. The inhabitants have developed and waiting for the human race to come to them.

 It’s a battle for survival that we see among the two civilizations that are the bitter enemies of one another. Each has to eradicate the other for its survival. Mel Hudson’s voice takes us on this extraterrestrial trip that portrays savageness and pure brutality. The novel is a fine start and can be enjoyed fully if we read other books like Children of Ruin and  The Expert System’s Brother by the same author that depict the matchless skills of the writer. The stories of Adrian always have a nice rhythm in them that never allows you to get bored by the material.
