Faceless Killers is the first novel in the Kurt Wallander series by author Henning Mankell.
On a cold night on a remote farm in Sweden, an elderly farmer was slashed to death, his wife dead with a noose around her neck. Police Inspector Ystad Kurt Wallander, the dying woman’s last words, his only tangible clue, are foreign. If publicized, they could be a match to ignite Sweden’s already smoldering anti-immigrant sentiment.

Unlike the situation with his ex-wife, his estranged daughter, or the young prosecutor who caught his attention – Wallander felt he had a problem he could solve. He quickly becomes obsessed with solving crimes before the already tense situation explodes, though it would require all of his talents to do so.
