Four Blind Mice is the eighth book in the crime, mystery, and psychological fiction series – Alex Cross. It is written by the well renowned American author James Patterson. He is a bestselling author who has a plethora of other novels to his credit. If you want to indulge in his other work, consider The Summer House. The narration has been performed by the duo of Peter J. Fernandez and Michael Emerson. The dialogue is well delivered and understandable. The production only contains a few sound effects which don’t cause distraction.

Detective Alex has almost resigned from the Washington, D.C. police as his partner appears with a case he can’t refuse. It involves John Sampson’s closest friend, who has been charged with murder. He is subject to the iron hand of the United States Army. If the evidence proves it, he might be headed to the gas chamber.

The thing is, the military has overlooked some evidence, and rather they’ve concealed said evidence. Sampson is sure his friend is innocent. Thus, the duo of Sampson of Alex goes behind military lines using their street-savvy and mutual trust for each other. There, they confront the most ruthless killers they have ever encountered. Then, there is also the possibility of a new relationship for Alex which is a cause for distraction. Because of all these elements, this case may prove to be Alex’s most terrifying challenge that he has ever faced.

While this part is surely entertaining, it lacks the punch of some of the previous novels. There isn’t as much thrill and suspense as the fans of the series have come to expect.
