Hunter’s Moon/ Kate Shugak, Book 9 – Audiobook Online
Hunter’s Moon is the ninth mystery novel in the Kate Shugak Novels series by author Dana Stabenow.
Guiding becomes a deadly undertaking when Kate Shugak accepts a contract to shepherd a group of German computer executives on a hunting trip in Alaska. When the fog rolls in and people start to die, Kate and her boyfriend Jack discover how much they value the sport. The hunter’s waning moon heralds a season of gathering and abundance, but Kate finds herself resource-depleted and most vulnerable.
She must find the strength to not only survive, but return the favor. This time, the guide becomes the hunter.
This book was so full of twists and turns that I had a hard time keeping up. The setting is in the Alaskan bush, home to a variety of wildlife that make the area a hunter’s paradise. A group of German businessmen are at a somewhat rudimentary hunting camp to hunt elk and bears for 10 days. As usual, Jack and Kate find themselves immersed in adventure, mess and mess. They were hired to guide German computer executives. Most of these characters are either selfish, selfish tyrants or misfits who like to dictate the happiness of those around them. None of them seem to trust their colleagues. All seemed frustrated when instructed to tell them what they could and couldn’t do. As the days went by, one risk after another affected the general health of everyone in the camp.
