The Joyland is a beautiful and heartbreaking book all at the same time. If you are the most hard-boiled kind of a book enthusiast then still you wouldn’t be able to restrict yourself from getting inspired. This is the brilliance of Stephen King where all of his novels have quality stamped all over them.

The story in this contemporary fiction novel is set in a very small town of North Carolina. It is actually about an amusement park with the name of Joyland and moves us through a touching tale of a summer of 1973. Devin Jones, a college student comes to work and confronts the legacy of a brutal murder. The fate of a kid dying and the ways would both alter the life of Devin forever. The 21 year old Devin and the unsolved murder in the amusement park would definitely capture your attention. This is all the brilliance of Stephen King who has the talent to draw you in the time and place of his imagination. The story has some amazing twists and turns and would never disappoint you at any point throughout its narration. Here, you will also like the fact that there is a high impact but a small in scale supernatural twist within this tale.  

The narration of this novel was well handled by Michael Kelly and deserves to be applauded. If you want to check a few other quality novels from the author then The Institute and The Outsider would make a great read or listen for you.

The Joyland novel encapsulates a story of sorrow, heartbreak and death. This is a story that you must listen to and you will never regret or forget it.
