Leaves of Grass The Original 1855 Edition – Audiobook Online

Leaves of Grass is a literary fiction book by author Walt Whitman.
When Walt Whitman self-published “Leaves of Grass” in 1855, he shook the literary world and forever changed the flow of poetry. Whitman continued to revise and expand his poems – but none matched the raw power and immediacy of the first edition. “Leaves of Grass,” 1855, unchanged, along with Ralph Waldo Emerson’s famous letter to Whitman.

I may have read some of Whitman’s poems during my junior year, but I don’t know
that this collection is very rich. I like it and don’t want to read it too fast like I usually do
do, but it is simply LONG. I also somehow didn’t know that this was rated R even by today
standard, but the parts in question are pretty concise.

So love, romantic love, is the subject of these reflections. But it’s just one. He looks at all the important things
stuff. Philosophy. Religion. All of them. He wrote to Jesus and understood him in his humanity,
even when he’s having trouble with his followers. Death. Nature. War, specifically the Civil War. For Whitman,
God is everywhere, and there is perhaps a pantheistic view that God is everything. The beauty of everything
in our world is shown in an amazing way.
