Emma has learned about the “Curse of Parabatai” and is determined to sacrifice her happiness to prevent it from becoming a reality. She decided to handle her difficult situation, even though I understood her reasons. There’s a lot to worry about in this book, because there’s no doubt Emma and Jules are soul mates, and want nothing more than to be together. The push and pull between them was palpable, and stretched my heart.

We also learn more about the supporting characters, Christina Rosales, her ex-boyfriend “Perfect Diego”, Mark, Kieran (prince of the Unseelie Court and Mark’s ex-boyfriend), Kit (a child orphan is staying with The Blackthorne’s and has a bloodline mystery,) as well as many other supporting characters. Romance runs through the story and I’m excited to see how things turn out in the end for all the characters.

One of my favorite parts of book two is the adventure that takes place when Emma, ​​Jules, Mark, Christina, and Kieran arrive in the land of Wonders. The pristine beauty, temptation and setting that Cassandra Clare created. I felt like I was in Wonderland too, and all the colors and images were so vibrant and bright.

Emma, ​​Julian, Christina, Mark, Kieran, and the rest of the Blackthorne are dealing with political upheaval, prejudice, and malicious conspiracy from the Cohort, an extremist group in The Clave, as well like the Seelie and Unseelie Courts in the land of Faerie, and a mighty foe has arisen through dark magic. I love every Dark Lord moment!
