Jane, a vampire hunter with the ability to transform, stumbles across a stranger who has come to New Orleans, joining to hunt vampires who have gone mad – or so he says.

Jane’s relationships are very complicated and one can see these are not going to be resolved easily but Jane is a very complex character. Between her guilt about sex out of wedlock, to her feelings about proof Rick has been cheating, and her unresolved feelings about George Dumas.
If you are looking for instant gratifcation, easy plots, no hair pin twists and turns, less action and every question answered then this series is not for you.
Faith Hunter is a plot weaver with many twists and questions in Mercy Blade, much more so than Skinwalker or Blood Cross. There are unanswered questions left for readers at the end of this book; cliffhanger rings a bell. Is George Dumas the one for Jane and is Rick the bad boy I saw coming? Is Leo back to his semi-normal self? What will the introduction of the weres mean for Jane and discovering who she really is, and what that means for her future? Evie, Molly’s sister, who is rooming with Jane is disconserting at best. And George, well what can you say about a man who really cannot spare any of his life for a woman outside of vampires? Beast is my all time favorite supernat, probably because she cuts to the chase and everything for her is cut and dry.
The introduction of a new character in the third book I thought was an excellent idea. Keeping it fresh is what it’s all about in a series. The back half of the book is where Faith Hunter keeps you turning pages, with more turns than a corkscrew.
Faith has the ability to make us identify with her characters which is not an easy feat. She makes Jane vulnerable, guilt ridden, lost but hard as nails, loyal to a fault and kick ass biker all in one. Her detailing of the scenes and surrounding areas of New Orleans is breathtaking and you feel for Jane. You want to help her kick some ass and tell her it’s going to be ok.
