Mr. Romantic/ A Mister Standalone, Book 2 – Audiobook Online

Mr. Romantic is the second love story in The Mister Series.
Seduction is the key to the world. Nolan Delaney has it as flange. The famous romantic man. He’s out of my league, but I’m going to try my old university anyway. I didn’t travel 2,000 miles to his required job interview only to be thrown out like trash. Don’t look down on me, Mr. Delaney. I’m really not as naive as I seem.

I have to admit, I started this review a few times and deleted them all because I couldn’t find the right words to do justice to this book.

Ivy is our heroine. She was fresh out of college, completely inexperienced, and received an interview invitation from Nolan Delaney. Not knowing how this opportunity fell on her lap, she jumped at it. As for Nolan, he mixed work and fun and was burned. Nolan has no idea where Ivy is from and although he intends to sleep with her, hiring her is really out of the question.

The chase was pretty quick. Attracts immediately but involves hesitant affection. I love that we have instant lust, but a deeper connection takes time to build. Ivy has a backbone. I love her for that. She stood firm and she did not back down. But she let Nolan chase. She knew she wanted him, but she also knew it had to be on her terms. Her inner battle was perfectly executed and although he forced her to give in, her submission was hers. Questionable consent is sinful when done properly, and using the right POV to develop this is really key.

Nolan was complex. There is this brutal vulnerability about him and although he was c0cky, he was sweet at the same time. I think given the history he had, the idea that one of his kinks was so tied to what nearly ruined him was a struggle within itself. Imagine the turmoil he must have faced trying to come to terms with that reality. That he got off on the role playing but was accused of such a horrible crime – that parallel alone put this book in a league of its own. There is this whole, what came first; the chicken or the egg debate that is running through my head.

It wouldn’t be a JA Huss romance without the twisty surprises that she sprinkles into the story – and Mr. Romantic is no different. We get some little breadcrumbs of the events that took place ten years ago when these five guys were accused and we get to see how those events still shape their lives all those years later. Each one of these books are turning out to be about so much more than what was expected. With every revelation delivered, we get more mystery and are left with more questions. This story is layered and complex and I have a feeling that with each building block of this plot it is just going become more mind blowing.
