Much Ado About a Widow is a literary fiction book by author Jenna Jaxon.
Victory was sweet – but England’s victory was Georgie’s habit. She’s already a widow, the disgusting marriage her father first arranged is simply renegotiated. With neither money nor power, all she can do is cherish her last weeks of freedom… until a group of thugs overtake her carriage and kidnap her. She escapes to Brighton by the sea and meets her brother’s rather wild friend, Lord St. Just – the person she suspects aspires to be a pirate. She was prepared to entertain him with more adventurous suggestions than usual….

Saint knows only his mind and duty, and he loves challenges. Helping a beautiful woman say goodbye to thugs is a great fit for his talent. Within an hour he had Georgie, the lady’s maid, and her little dog also sailing to his castle in Cornwall. The woman’s entire family, her kidnappers and her conspirators are being pursued. But as he and the indomitable Georgie grow closer, he begins to suspect that together they will prove the right fit for all.

Lady Georgina “Georgie” defied her father years ago when she eloped with Issac Kirkpatrick, a vicar’s son, instead of her father’s choice, Lord Travers. For marrying for love, her father, the Marquess of Blackham disowned his youngest daughter. When her husband died at Waterloo, Georgie is at the mercy of her cruel sister-in-law, until her friend Charlotte invites her to her home. The five ladies of the Widow’s Club are now 2, three of them made love matches.

With Charlotte’s marriage, Georgie accepts her father’s agreement to marry Lord Travers and be welcomed back into the family. Seeing no other choice, she agrees, only to be kidnapped along with her maid and dog on her way to her father’s home. Escaping a terrifying fate, she literally runs into Rob, the Marquess of St. Just, her brother Jemmy’s best friend, whom she met while living with Charlotte.

As he is about to sail on his ship to his home in Cornwall, the only way to protect Georgie is to take her and her maid and dog with him. Despite her original opinion of Rob as a pirate, she is moved by his concern for her and not to forget his rescue of her beloved dog at great cost to his own welfare. By the time they reach Cornwall, they fall in love. After a few days, they are surprised when her brother and wife, Jemmy and Elizabeth, arrive with Lord Travers. The question is why would anyone kidnap Georgie? At this point, the plot has so many twists, you cannot put it down. But the true villain here is Georgie’s father, cold, stubborn, arrogant and unfeeling, determined to get his way at any cost. It is an exciting, action packed story with friendship, devotion, loyalty and love overcoming each obstacle and adversity!!
