I miss the Joanna Brady series. It’s been a while since Jance wrote a new book in the series. I saw this novel that pairs Joanna Brady and Ali Reynolds together and thought it could be an interesting read even if it were a novel.

Sheriff Brady received a call in the middle of the night about a pickup truck crossing the embankment. It was not an accident; The driver was shot. The cargo is Legos being tracked by R. Ali’s security company sent to investigate and track the money using all of her high-tech gadgets. It’s great that these two work together; All we need now is to add Beaumont. Maybe this will be a new series.

The book is well written. High speed. To fully enjoy this novel, readers should be familiar with both Brady and Reynolds’ series. One thing I like about reading J. A. Jance’s books is that there are no obscene words.

Karen Ziemba did a great job retelling the book. She is a regular narrator for Ali Reynolds’ series. Ziemba is a ballerina, actor, and singer and has participated in musical theater. Now she is a famous audiobook narrator.
