I have been reading Meg Cabot books for nearly 20 years & I’ve been a fan since the princess diaries first came out. However I feel her recent books just don’t have the same spark. Don’t get me wrong this is a sweet romance with a good ensemble of characters & a beautiful location (it makes me want to move to the Florida keys & live island life!) but it’s nothing more than a fluffy romance that will keep you occupied for a couple of hours until you finish it.

I found the story very predictable & found the sexual assault was not handled very well. My mum is probably about 10 years older than the characters mother & is from a different socioeconomic background, but I know if what happened to Bree, happened to me she would be beating them with a stick & setting them on fire! & as a mother myself I find it hard that judge Justine considered it something that would happen at the “end of a bad date!”
