The current novel really puts a question in front of the society that whether circumstances have an impact on your personality or you keep on in the same way even after a tragedy. Archer the former war hero of the state goes to prison because of the crime he never committed. Everything went against him in the court and his life along with his honor was taken away from him in an instant.

Now he is back on the streets as a free man along with court order about things that he should not do in the future. He has to report to the officer at regular intervals and drinking and illicit relationship with a woman is not allowed to him. Circumstances once again go against the old veteran as he is hired to collect debt from a business man who is not in a mode of return. His wife too has certain evils designs for Archer.

It is like standing between the devil and the deep blue sea for Archer who does not want to indulge himself in a mess anymore. Sadly he is once again found near a dead body and he is not in a mood to go to prison this time. Thus instead of surrendering Archer takes the investigation in his own hands. Edoardo Ballerini is in the narration department this time with the springiness in voice.

The novel is narrated in a sensational passion which is awesome to listen. A Minute to Midnight and Long Road to Mercy can be read along with this one but these two novels are not with the historical relation that the current novel possesses. The author has depicted the scenes according to the era of 1949 which was surely an uphill task but is managed well in all aspects.
