Prince of Fire is a spy fiction, crime, and mystery thriller novel authored by American journalist and writer Daniel Silva. It is the fourth book featuring Gabriel Allon. It was well received and spent four weeks on the New York Times Bestseller list. Besides this, you can listen to The Kill Artist by the same author. You can also indulge in another mystery – The New Girl.

Guerin Barry is the narrator of this book, an unexpected change from the previous brilliant narrator of the series. Narration is the weakest part of this book. It is not all on the voice-actor because the quality of the recording is also bad. The pronunciation of Arabic and Hebrew words is also beyond subpar.

When Allen goes back to Venice, an explosion occurs in Rome which leads to a massive leak of personal information. A dossier gets in the hands of the terrorist which lays bare the history of Allon. Hastily, he comes back to Israel and dons the cape of the service he had forsaken long ago. Allon is in pursuit of an evil so great that it has the blood of generations on its hand. Then, the trail turns on its head, and it can no longer be said with assurance who is the stalker and who is being stalked.

Finally, the showdown commences and Allon comes face-to-face with the evil that was evading him for so long. The only outcome left is destruction, because it is not only Allon whose history is at stake.

This is a great book with an intriguing story but it is ruined by bad narration and audio quality. That shouldn’t stop you from enjoying this book as it is bearable to a certain extent.
