I was on guard when the first few chapters found Anita in bed with one of her other “pets” the equestrian king. The previous book has absolutely no sex, and it’s like a throwback to the older books of the series… almost. I’ve said before that I miss the younger (older?) Anita, where she shares a bed with her stuffed penguin and has a gun on her nightstand. While I understand that Anita can’t go back to that moment, I’m grateful that Ms. Hamilton is driving the series away from the erotic novels the series has adapted into.

Most readers like/like/will at least allow some obscene content, but in my opinion it looks like Ms. Hamilton has run out of ideas or is exhausted and thinks she is. could go back to the “sexy” paranormal sex scenes and, from what I’ve seen, most of her fans got tired of it, quickly. Looks like she’s finding her footing again and the new books are filled with plots and factual content… thank god. I’d really like to see Anita and crew hunting down some larger mountain trolls while backpacking once.
