Such a great book written by one of the best experts on the subject. Obviously you must have an interest in art or art history and if you really like it. I can’t think of any other book or textbook to contain information and details about dealers and the history of the art market as well as a bit of humour.

This is a fascinating look at the art world. This history focuses on dealers. The author starts from scratch and tracks the influence of dealers on what is displayed and sold. The author really knows his subject and provides all kinds of anecdotes. Many artists will be familiar to most readers. However, the men and some of the women behind the artists may not be familiar. The text is accompanied by numerous illustrations. Enjoy this art history from the dealer’s point of view.
