Secretly Hers is the second romance book in the Sterling Cano series by author Jamie Beck.
On her 31st birthday, the hopelessly romantic Kelsey Callihan almost gave up on happily ever after. The reason why she agreed to a risky offer from the notorious Sterling Canyon player, remote skier Trip Lexington. After all, every girl needs a little bit of fun, and with Trip, there are no mixed signals or the risk of a broken heart. And if his tips can help her find a husband in the process, all the better.

The trip couldn’t have been happier with his secret, no strings attached relationship with sweet and sexy Kelsey until she decided to give up after meeting a man she could share her dreams of Marriage and family. His jealousy turned to anger when he discovered that the man was his estranged half-brother and arch-rival.

Trip has to decide if the fire in his gut is caused by sibling rivalry or something much more dangerous…like love.

I really enjoyed the first half of this book but then it went somewhere that annoyed me. We have Kelsey, a real estate agent who believes in fairytale endings and is searching for her Prince Charming. However, she is also depicted as a strong woman who is making a living on her own even without a man. Then there’s Trip aka Gunner, who is a town playboy and doesn’t believe in getting too close to anyone or anything, but of course, he and Kelsey have forged a bond. friends with benefits that you know will end in misery.

My problem with this book is twofold. Without spoiling anything, it would become clear after their first sexual encounter what would happen and I was thinking “no, that’s cliché, the author isn’t going there” . She does. And from there Kelsey went from strong to ridiculous and Trip from a whore to a perfect man. It’s unbelievable and then another cliché happens and it’s all dramatic but in the end there’s sunshine and rainbows.

I like romance novels because when well written they make me ecstatic and enthralled but when I read crap like this it makes me resentful for wasting my time.

A good read from this author. Kelsey is a successful real estate agent and now all she wants is a husband and children. Trip is a fun action junkie who enjoys spending time in the mountains doing ridiculous things and making a big splash with the ladies. He tells Kelsey she’s too revealing and that’s why the guys back down. They have a secret until she gives up when she meets someone and Trip finds herself angry at the man she chose.
