When I couldn’t find a good audiobook, I always knew I could count on John Sandford. I wish sadistic, brutal murders weren’t necessarily part of the story but I suppose they are. Every book I’ve heard by Sandford is a winner and has me glued to my headphones or speakers from start to finish. This is no exception. Richard Ferrone has the right voice and style for these books – I hope they never change the narrator!

I like PREY novels for many reasons. I like, for example, the cooperative ways in which police work together — as distinct from a lonely, anxious detective who is at odds with all his fellow cops and especially his superiors. And this is one of my favorite PREY novels. The quasi-human villains are more recognizable than some of Sandford’s villains.
