Snapshot (Audiobook) By Brandon Sanderson

Detective novels are really changing their approach according to the new technologies that are being used today. Brandon Sanderson adopts those new methodologies in his latest novel about a day that the two detectives try to recreate so that they can get hold of things that have caused havoc in the whole city. 

Anthony Davis and Chaz the two detectives of the current era come to investigate a case that started ten days ago. They get straight orders from the court to enter into the recreated world where they are the supreme authority to look for clues. In the city with twenty million recreated people only the two detectives seem to have the upper hand but still the puzzle is too tough to handle. 

The more they try the more complex the whole thing becomes, finally the two detectives think of trying something out of their premises. Though they were given full charge of the snapshot, they were still ordered by the authorities not to investigate a case related to a massive killing that was part of the recreated snapshot. The two in their desperation start to enter the domain behind their boundary line and find a new picture of the real world they live in.

 Just like in Words of Radiance and Oathbringer the book has sensation and enthusiasm but the idea of the recreated world is different and no doubt it is attractive too. William DeMeritt is a new voice for Brandon’s work but it is a mature and seasoned voice that portrays this fine tale.  Everything is perfect about the snapshot of this new era and new ways of investigating something that had happened in the past.
