So You’ve Been Publicly Shamed is a good book by author Jon Ronson.
The Psychopathy Test, a fascinating and brilliant exploration of one of the most underrated powers in our world: shame.

‘It’s about terrorism, isn’t it?’ ‘The horror of what?’ I said. ‘The horror of being discovered.’

For the past three years, Jon Ronson has traveled the world to meet people who receive high public shaming. What is shameful are people like us who joke on social media and cause bad consequences or make mistakes at work. Once their transgression is exposed, collective outrage spreads with hurricane force and the next thing they know they’re ripped apart, mocked, mocked by an angry mob. , sometimes even getting fired from work.

A great renaissance of public shame is sweeping our nation. Justice has been democratized. Much of the silence is getting a voice. But what are we doing with our voices? We are mercilessly finding everyone’s fault. We are defining the boundaries of normality by ruining the lives of those outside it. We are using shame as a form of social control.

So You’ve Been Publicly Shamed is a deeply authentic book about modern life, filled with eye-opening truths about the escalating battle against human error – and the very scary part that we all play in it.

Jon Ronson is an award-winning writer and documentary filmmaker. He is the author of two best-selling books, Them: Adventures with Extremists and Men Staring at Goats, and two anthologies, Extraordinary: True Stories of the Goats. Daily Madness and What I Do: More True Stories of Daily Insanity. He lives in London.

Author Jon Ronson learned his first lesson in public shame when his identity was stolen on Twitter. His new book, So You’ve Been Shamed in Public, begins with the story of how some young researchers faked his identity on Twitter into an experiment they called “infomorph” or spam bots. He finds himself “at war with a robot version of himself”.

Ronson ultimately won the case in a lengthy and complicated process that included a face-to-face meeting with contorted academics who claimed that the Internet was, in fact, not the real world. Ronson was reluctant to videotap the meeting and decided his only way out was to upload it to YouTube. Commenters began nailing the three identity thieves — some mercilessly — and the pundits eventually took down the fake Twitter account.

Ronson’s book continues to explore the concept of public shame and what it does to its victims in a series of highly publicized civic uprisings that began on social media. . It’s all about the herd.
