The author is new to me and she did not let me down. There’s magic, mystery, intrigue, intrigue. A young woman, abandoned as a little girl, discovers she has the ability to break other people’s spells and is recruited by a secret society for what she is told is for the good of society. But unregistered magic is illegal and if discovered she will be arrested, or worse, executed. Along the way, a young mage in the process of becoming a master mage stumbles upon her abilities and recruits her himself. In the end, she makes some devastating discoveries about who this secret society is and what has made her do it.

Everyone she knows is in danger and she must act quickly to save those important to her. This is the first of two books. And the ending makes the reader want to read the second book right away.

This is a wonderful book. If magic is normal and practiced all the time. But there are people who do magic but since they are not registered they could be in trouble. Elise is one of them. While others can cast spells, she can undo spells, and spells she undone can do more harm than good. Can she fix it without any trouble?
