Standoff is a mystery novel by author Sandra Brown.
TV reporter Tiel McCoy was driving along Interstate 20 on his way to New Mexico for a well-earned vacation. But her journey is rewritten when she hears on the radio that the teenage daughter of a famous Fort Worth millionaire has been kidnapped – at least, that’s the official report. In fact, she is pregnant and has run away with her boyfriend. After calling her editor, Tiel abandoned her holiday plans to pursue the story.

During an innocuous visit to a convenience store in Rojo Flats, Tiel gets up close and personal with the barrel of a gun, two desperate young lovers and the scoop of life.
As the intense confrontation ensues, she learns why two young fugitives fear the rich father of one of them more than the FBI… and why she must protect them from one. The world is trying to destroy them.

I have read and enjoyed many of Sandra Brown’s books. This book takes a different approach to her other stories and it scores home!
A hostage situation and extreme anxiety combined with serious family dynamics make for a gripping story that will keep that book in your hand until the very end! Don’t miss reading ‘Stand-off’!

The pacing of this story is really well done. It is a page turner. The cliffs were well done. I was able to finish this book in half a day (it was easy to read).

If I had to go on strike, it would be the dog scene (I just skip that page, I can’t handle animal cruelty), slight generalizations, and the unnecessary boyfriend in the section. head.

The story is predictable. The whole Romeo/Juliet storyline is eye-catching. A news reporter by profession that happens to be caught up in her hot story is ridiculous. However, Sandra Brown crafted a compelling and entertaining story that engages you and allows you to dismiss the clichés that would probably leave you sighing.

This is possibly the worst audiobook of all time.
The story line is stupid, the characters are stupid, listening to them makes their brains die. The narrator is fine but should check the pronunciation

I read/listened to books that I didn’t like very much, I wanted to bang them against the wall. This makes me feel that way but I also want to burn down the wall, campaigning to make sure that some people are never published and, while I do it, never get close to the computer or typewriter.
