Still Life is a suspenseful mystery thriller. It is the first installment of Chief Inspector Gamache/ Three Pines novel series. The book is written by Louise Penny. She is quite an accomplished novelist of mystery thrillers which she has proven with her variety of novels. One of her good novels is A Fatal Grace. After this one comes her The Cruelest Month chapter. Both these recommended chapters come from the same Chief Inspector Gamache/ Three Pines novel series of the author.

The narration of this chapter is done by Ralph Cosham. He has a very calm and composed tone which really makes a very good impression. You will also experience some great excitement and tension in his voice at the same time. In short, his excellent vocal gestures and tonal quality made this nearly ten hours long audiobook an easy listen.

Armand Gamache, the Chief Inspector of the Surete du Quebec is called along with his team of investigators to the place of a suspicious death. It was a case somewhere in a rural village that was located south of Montreal, Canada.

Jane Neal was found dead there in the woods. The locals there were quite sure that it was a hunting accident. But, Gamache was able to smell something fishy there. He was quite certain that Jane died at the hands of someone a lot sinister than an inconsiderate hunter in the woods.

It is a brilliant book with a solid story. The character of Inspector Gamache is top-notch who is a very humane and a smart type of a hero. The audiobook experience became even better in the voice of Ralph Cosham.
