Hailey Genest has seen most of her friends get married and have children, and she’s happy for them, but it was much easier before she turned 40. She’s spent her life in Whitford, Maine, and if she still hasn’t found her Prince Charming by now, she has to accept that she probably won’t.

He couldn’t resist pressing her button, even though she made it clear that the rugged, outdoor type wasn’t for her.

Hailey was delighted to see the charming back of her butt-slash-gut-guide-tourist. When he reappears in her life, she is determined to avoid him, even though he looks dapper in his uniform. But that’s easier said than done in Whitford, especially since he’s renting the house right next door…

Taken with You is the story of Hailey and Matt. They first met in the woods, when Tori and Hailey went on a guided nature hike, and the guide left Tori and Hailey in the wild. Matt, who is about to leave the jungle for 2 weeks and looks like that, guides them back to civilization. Matt and Hailey exchange sarcasm, and she’s glad it turns out he’s not the serial killer he seems. In fact, Matt is the new game manager. The next time Hailey and Matt meet, he’s clean-shaven and in uniform. Hailey took a minute to put two and two together, and was disappointed that a new man in town happened to be this particular man. Imagine her surprise when he ended up as her neighbor. Let the madness begin.

Yay…a new Kowalski book, even if it doesn’t have a Kowalski family member. And that’s perfectly fine because this book is so good. I really, really loved it AND we had glimpsed a lot of the Kowalski clans so everything was good.

The book begins with Hailey in the woods, simply miserable, with her friend. Hailey is NOT an extrovert… that was pointed out from the start. They were supposed to be on a group adventure and, due to blisters, were quickly separated from the group and lost. That’s where Matt comes in. Matt is a game manager, but when he finds the girls, he’s actually on the last day of a two-week vacation. He looked and smelled as if he had been in the woods for two weeks and Hailey was NOT impressed. Matt wasn’t with her either. He’s made the mistake of dating a girly girl before and that wouldn’t suit his outdoor lifestyle.
