The Big Lie
- A Jack Swyteck Novel
- Narrated by: Jonathan Davis
As the Electoral College battle for the White House unfolds in a Florida courtroom, Miami attorney Jack Swyteck has never felt more detached from the truth, fighting for a disloyal elector, caught between a corrupt president and his manipulative rival – with each revelation more explosive than what happened.
The country is reeling. For the sixth time in American history, the winner of the popular vote will not take the Oval Office. President Malcolm MacLeod, the Machiavellian incumbent, was not impeached simply because his political enemies were sure they would topple him at the ballot box.
His opponent, Florida Senator Evan Stahl, saw his campaign rocked by allegations of adultery – with another man. Despite the scandal that sparked public opinion and the media frenzy around it, most Americans chose Stahl to lead the politically polarized nation.
Gun lobbyist Charlotte Holmes is one of Florida’s 29 electors who are bound by law and sworn to vote for MacLeod, who won Florida by a narrow margin. When Charlotte announced that she intended to vote in her conscience and throw the Electoral College to Stahl, the president and his Florida machine took her to court on charges – which for a number of people, this punishment is not nearly enough.
Miami Attorney Jack Swyteck will use every legal means possible to keep his new client free – and alive. The prosecutor chosen by MacLeod is determined to prove Charlotte unfit to vote.
As the pressure mounts, Charlotte and Jack must decide how far they will go to keep their stand on the ground.
James Grippando did it again. With The Big Lie, he combines very trendy themes with a great story, colorful characters, extensive knowledge of Florida and a GREAT plot.
