Detective Nic Costa faces his toughest case yet. When the sins of the past repeat the crimes of the present.
When British scholar Malise Gabriel falls from a Rome apartment, detective Nic Costa suspects more than a simple accident. Nic is sure that Malise’s family is hiding important information. As the investigation deepens, Rome’s dark side is revealed, revealing a web of deception, betrayal and corruption. The key to the truth lies in Gabriels.
Why did they not want such cooperation, and who, or what, was the reason for their silence?
David Hewson certainly knows Rome and his descriptions of the monuments in the novel along with the way he weaves them into the plot makes this book so enjoyable to read. I have read all of his previous works and think this is the best one. The characters have depth and are interesting in themselves.
I’m blind and this author definitely ignited my imagination. Given the history and current life in Rome, I feel that I have lived and walked the streets of Rome and have been a regular guest of many of the restaurants featured in the book. An excellent horror movie, I’m hooked, I just bought all four of the Rome series. It would be desperate to find a similar writer, when I have read all the books by David Hewsons.
