The Gangster / An Isaac Bell Adventure, Book 9, Audiobook Online By: Clive Cussler, Justin Scott
Isaac Bell returns in this thrilling new novel by Clive Cussler, the number one New York Times bestselling adventure master.
It’s 1906, and in New York City, an Italian criminal group called the Black Hand is on the run: kidnapping, extortion, arson. Van Dorn Agency detective Isaac Bell is hired to form a special Black Hand Squad, but thugs appear everywhere – so much so that Bell begins to wonder if there are imitators, namesakes. criminals use this name for terrorist effect or not. And then the murders begin, each stronger than the last, and when Bell discovers his frustrations, the ultimate target may be the most powerful man of all.
Since I’m primarily an Anglophile, I don’t read many stories set in America – except for Remington Kane’s Tanner series. However, this book kept me interested and packed with action. I haven’t read a single Clive Cussler book since Raise the Titanic, but I will definitely try reading his and Justin Scott’s other books. Scott Brick did a great job as the narrator – the first class of American readers.
The narrator reads at perfect speed and in a pleasant voice. There are many characters that are a bit confusing in the first 10 chapters then it becomes less. Isaac Bell seems to be the type to be tall, handsome, strong; knowledgeable & intelligent – just what is expected from an expensive exclusive detective agency. Highly recommend this book.
