The Girl with The Louding Voice / A Novel, Audiobook Online By: Abi Daré
The inspirational, unforgettable story of a teenage girl growing up in a rural Nigerian village who longs to go to school so she can find her “big voice” and speak up for herself, The Girl with the Louding Voice is both heartbreaking and winning a story of fighting power for your dreams.
Despite the seemingly insurmountable obstacles on her way, Adunni never lost sight of her goal of escaping the life of poverty she was born into so she could build the future she had chosen for herself – and help other girls like her do the same.
Her strong determination to find joy and hope even in the most difficult of circumstances imaginable will “break your heart and mend it” (Jenna Bush Hager on The Today). Show) even as Adunni shows us how a brave young girl can inspire us all to achieve our dreams… and maybe even change the world.
I don’t write reviews, but THIS is necessary. A performance worthy of an Oscar. This story is beautiful and sad, powerful and necessary. I loved every minute of this, and was so sad when it ended. Do yourself a favor and listen to this book.
As with many Audible books, the narrator reads this book with grace and with a variety of accents as if listening to a good play. The story of a teenage girl in Nigeria trying to make a living without being planned by her father, husband and employer is heartbreaking. I just wish the book was a bit longer because I enjoyed it so much and maybe, to have a little more depth.
