The Harlequin/ An Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter Novel, Book 15 – Audiobook Online

The Harlequin is a novel written by Laurell K. Hamilton, published in 2007. It is the fifteenth book in the Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter series. The story follows Anita Blake, a vampire hunter and U.S. Marshal, as she deals with the Harlequin, a group of vampire enforcers who arrive in St. Louis to investigate the possible existence of a new vampire master.

The Harlequin are a group of powerful and feared vampires who work as enforcers for the Vampire Council. They are known for their distinctive harlequin makeup and their ability to manipulate emotions through touch. In the novel, they arrive in St. Louis to investigate rumors of a new vampire master who is creating new vampires without permission from the council.

Anita Blake is tasked with working with the Harlequin to investigate the situation and find the rogue vampire master. However, things become complicated when Anita’s personal life becomes entangled with her professional duties. She must navigate her relationships with her various lovers, including Jean-Claude, Richard Zeeman, and Micah Callahan, while also dealing with the dangerous and unpredictable Harlequin.

The novel explores themes of power, control, and trust as Anita struggles to balance her personal desires with her professional responsibilities. It also delves deeper into the world of vampires and their politics, introducing new characters and expanding on existing ones.

“The Harlequin” is Book 15 in the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series and the first to come out since Marvel began publishing comic book adaptations of Laurell K. Hamilton’s first book in the series. ri, “The Pleasures of Sin”. The visual reminder of how good those early novels, with their emphasis more on horror and so much less on sex, made me a little wary when I started reading “The Harlequin”, especially when I and countless fans were disappointed. has appeared in recent Hamilton novels (and not just those by Anita Blake). But while I have to admit that there may be cases where things have gone downhill for too long for me, the bottom line is that I find “The Harlequin” to be Anita Blake’s best novel in years. We also have a nice bit of irony that in this novel she actually lives up to the title of Vampire Hunter, which rarely happens in the series.
