- Earth’s Children, Book 6
Ayla, one of the most notable and beloved heroines in contemporary fiction, continues to explore the world and the people around her with curiosity, insight and, above all, courage. .
As the story begins, Ayla, Jondalar, and their infant daughter, Jonayla, are living with Zelandonii in the Ninth Cave – a stone shelter. Ayla was chosen as an assistant and embarked on the arduous training task of becoming a spiritual leader. The wisdom Ayla gained from her struggles as an orphan, alone in a hostile environment, empowered her as she moved closer to her leadership role. Zelandonia.
Regardless of the obstacles, Ayla’s creative spirit has created new ways to ease the hardships of everyday life: foraging wild for delicious meals, experimenting with techniques to ease the long journeys Zelandoni had to make, honing her skills as a healer and a leader. And then there are the Sacred Caves, caves that Ayla’s mentor – Donier, the First of Zelandonia – took her to see. These caves are filled with remarkable art – paintings of mammoths, lions, bison, rhinos, reindeer, bison, bears. The powerful, mystical aura inside these caves sometimes overwhelmed Ayla, and the initiation rituals brought her close to death. But through those rituals, Ayla received the Gift of Knowledge so important that it would change the world.
A gripping drama, meticulous research, gripping detail, and superb storytelling skills combine to make the Land of the Painted Caves a captivating, completely believable work of art. an age-old civilization that serves as the startling conclusion to this beloved tale.
After humiliating Ayla by messing with the woman who intended to hurt Ayla at all times, Jondolar’s selfishness was immense. Ayla has lost their baby and he can’t put her first… but lets Summer Encounter learn of his dishonesty and selfishness. I hope that Ayla won’t reply to Jondalar last time and should go into a coma for once. She said goodbye to those who cared about her. I wish she had the courage to make Jondalar suffer for her actions. I was really hoping Ayla would bring her daughter back to the Mamutoi and be happy with Ranec…who loves her dearly. Jondalar is too self-centered and is sometimes embarrassed about Ayla. Ayla should have left one way or another and made Jondalar understand that his knowledge and technology came from Ayla’s quick wits. I loved the character Ayla but thought little about Jondalar in the last book.
