With her signature blend of forensic archaeology and intricate plotting, Elly Griffiths crafts a compelling tale of intrigue and mystery.

Forensic archaeologist Ruth Galloway changed her life – until a convicted murderer told her four of his victims were never found, dragging her back to where she left off. .

Everything changed for Ruth Galloway. She’s got a new job, home, and partner, and she’s no longer a resident forensic archaeologist with the North Norfolk police. That is, until convicted murderer Ivor March offered to make a deal with DCI Nelson. Nelson was always certain that March killed more women than he was accused of. Now, March confirms this and offers to show Nelson where the other bodies are buried – but only if Ruth will dig.

Curious but wary, Ruth agreed. March tells Ruth that he has killed four more women and that their bodies are buried near a bordering village, believed to be haunted by the Lantern Men, mysterious figures wielding lamps that lure tourists to their deaths. their.

Was it Ivor March who took the lamp and lured Ruth back to Norfolk? What is his plan, and why is she so important to it? And do the murders really end?

I’ve been a huge fan of Ruth and Nelson ever since I stumbled across the first book of the series. Ruth is a professor of archeology, and Nelson is the DCI of Norfolk CID. They met when Ruth was asked to consult when a body was found buried at a historic site. Are the bones recent, or have they been here for years? Although Nelson is married, the attraction is immediate and intense. Ruth couldn’t believe it when she found out she was pregnant. So 9 years have passed. Nelson is still married and has a two-year-old son, his daughter with Ruth being accepted as part of his family. Ruth has found a good man who loves her and her daughter. The point is, he’s not Nelson. And Nelson’s wife is not Ruth. Oh, and someone killed beautiful young women and buried them in a garden and behind an old tavern. Once again Ruth was invited to consult and Nelson was the SIO. Both Ruth and Nelson are trying to deal with the most heartbreaking situation — their own and that of the murdered young women.
