The wonderful eleventh book in the Scarpetta series. This book is about the aftermath of Jean Baptiste Chandonne’s attempt to beat Kay Scarpetta to death with a baton. He comes to her house, lies and tries to attack her, but before he can attack her with his chipped hammer, she runs away, picking up the box with the tattoo of her brother Thomas, who that he killed and put formalin on. eyes and then ran for help while trying to clear the caustic chemicals out of the eyes.
