The Main Corpse By Diane Mott Davidson – Audiobook Online
The Main Corpse is the sixth book in the Goldy Bear Culinary Mystery series written by Diane Mott Davidson. This cozy mystery novel follows the adventures of Goldy Bear, a caterer and amateur sleuth, as she becomes entangled in yet another murder investigation.
In The Main Corpse, Goldy Bear is preparing for a busy summer season of catering events in Aspen Meadow, Colorado. However, her plans are disrupted when her ex-husband, Dr. John Richard Korman, shows up unexpectedly. John Richard is a renowned gynecologist who left Goldy and their son Arch years ago. His sudden appearance brings back painful memories and stirs up unresolved emotions for Goldy.
Amidst this personal turmoil, Goldy finds herself catering an event at the exclusive Elk Park Preparatory School. The occasion is a retirement party for Julian Teller, the school’s beloved English teacher. However, the celebration takes a dark turn when Julian suddenly collapses and dies after eating one of Goldy’s appetizers.
As the prime suspect in Julian’s death, Goldy is determined to clear her name and find the real killer. With her culinary skills and sharp intuition, she begins investigating the case on her own. Along the way, she uncovers a web of secrets and hidden motives among the school’s faculty and staff.
Goldy’s investigation leads her to suspect that Julian’s death may be connected to an unsolved murder from years ago. As she delves deeper into both cases, she faces danger and encounters several suspicious characters who may have something to hide.
Throughout the book, Goldy also deals with personal challenges, including her complicated relationship with John Richard and her son Arch’s rebellious behavior. These subplots add depth to the story and provide insight into Goldy’s character.
As Goldy gets closer to unraveling the truth, she becomes a target herself. She must use all her wit and resourcefulness to outsmart the killer before she becomes the next victim.
The Main Corpse is a thrilling and suspenseful mystery that combines elements of cooking, family dynamics, and small-town intrigue. Diane Mott Davidson’s writing style is engaging, and she skillfully weaves together multiple plotlines to keep readers guessing until the very end.

The Main Corpse
- Narrated by: Barbara Rosenblat
Diane Mott Davidson has been called “the Julia Child of detective writers”. Critics and fans alike couldn’t resist coming back for more help in her best-selling culinary mystery series, including Serving For No One and Dying for Chocolate.
Bad weather disrupted Goldy’s eating schedule for weeks. Now happy to be back at work, she looks forward to preparing a sumptuous dinner for two wealthy clients who are celebrating their new business venture – the reopening of the Eurydice Gold Mine. But when one of the men disappears, and her best friend is accused of murder, Goldy must find out who turned the party into a disaster.
Davidson’s bubbly characters and narrator Barbara Rosenblat’s irresistible voice create a mix of humor, danger, and suspense. And all of Goldy’s tantalizing recipes make their way into the ending of The Main Corpse. You’ll find delicious treats like Tomato-Brie Pie and Chocoholic Cookies. There’s even a four-legged gourmet treat: Jake’s Dog Cookies.
I love this series, the book is well written and told. They are suspenseful and exciting. They kept me going while doing an hour on the cardio machine at the gym!! Looking forward to all the other “books”.
Again, the protagonist talks to the killer several times without noticing that they are unstable and have sudden mood swings. now i understand why she is a caterer and not a miniature. you meet the killer in the previous book, and he is very different. this may seem odd and for most people it means you need to pay more attention. not the main character, she is a great human reviewer…good story line, and believable characters, save amazing luck if main character. The narrator brought the characters to life.
All the ingredients I want in a Goldy mystery are here, and I might add, to a more generous degree than before: humor, an engaging and engaging mystery. , entertaining jokes and of course, delicious recipes. I found Killer Pancake a bit sad, so I’m relieved that this book is more than worth reading.
