“The Messenger” is the sixth book in the Gabriel Allon series by author Daniel Silva. The novel follows art restorer and Israeli spy Gabriel Allon as he investigates the death of a former British intelligence officer, Eamon Quinn. The Messenger / Gabriel Allon, Book 6, Audiobook Online By: Daniel Silva
Gabriel Allon, an art restorer and spy, is about to face the biggest test of his life.
Allon was recovering from a grueling battle with a master Palestinian terrorist, when the terrorists reached out to him once again.
An al-Qaeda suspect killed in London, and photos found on his computer – photos that make Israeli intelligence suspect that al-Qaeda is planning one of the apple attacks boldest ever, aiming straight at the heart of the Vatican.
Allon warns his old friend, Monsignor Luigi Donati, the pope’s personal secretary, and rushes to Rome to assist with security. But what neither he nor Donati knew was that the Vatican had been completely infiltrated. An extraordinary enemy walks between them… and he’s just getting started.
Over the coming days and weeks, Allon and his colleagues will find themselves in a deadly duel against one of the world’s most dangerous men – and a hunt that will take them across Europe, to the Caribbean and back.
But for them, there may simply not be enough of everything: enough time, enough truth, enough luck. All Allon could do was set his trap – and hope he wasn’t the one to get caught in it.
I confess that I am a true fan of Daniel Silva and his protagonist, Gabriel Allon and his mentor, Ari Sharon. I have read some of the series and think this series is the best. While I thought Messenger started off a bit slow, Silva soon made up for it and the plot thickened quickly. The characters blend together into a picture full of excitement and suspense. The plot progression is fast and furious and I hate to put it down. You can’t go wrong with The Messenger.
Daniel Silva once again demonstrates his extreme talent as an author with a unique style that I have not seen in many other authors. His blend of fact and fiction blends so perfectly that the reader will have a hard time distinguishing between the two. Christopher Lane did a great job with this story. He kept me well engaged and entertained.
