The Minor Adjustment Beauty Salon / The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, Book 14, Audiobook Online By: Alexander McCall Smith
Precious Ramotswe has taken on two puzzling cases. She was first approached by attorney Mma Sheba, who was the administrator of the estate of a deceased farmer.
Mma Sheba had a feeling that the young man who stepped forward might be impersonating the farmer’s grandson to claim the inheritance. Mma Ramotswe agrees to visit the farm and find out what she can do about her self-proclaimed grandson.
Then the owner of Small Adjustment Salon went to Mma Ramotswe for advice. The opening of her new salon has been shrouded in misfortune. Not only did she receive bad omens in the mail, but there were also rumors that the salon was using dangerous products that burned people’s skin. Someone might be trying to get the salon out of business?
Meanwhile, at the office, Mma Ramotswe had noticed something unusual in Grace Makutsi recently. Although Mma Makutsi did not mention anything, it is clear that she is pregnant… But in Botswana – a land where family is valued above all else – this can cause controversy as well as celebration.
With warmth, sympathy, and heartfelt wit, Alexander McCall Smith explores some of the burning questions of married life, parenting, grief, and the importance of traditions that shape and guide our lives.
Alexander McCall Smith, Thank you for giving me such joy in all your series. The #1 female detective agency still has my number one female detectives. Mma Ramotswe always goes to the bottom and core of the mystery. She does this with integrity, keen observation, Clovis Anderson’s privacy rules, and a little help from friends. Can’t wait for the sequel as Mma Makutse is the official partner. I’m sure it will be funny and heartwarming.
I love that the next chapter of my life ties in with the characters and the setting of the agency. They continue to grow and mature, as the world changes and so do they. I absolutely love this reader, hearing the voices she imagines, experiencing rich features with added depth. I totally recommend reading this wonderful bedtime book, giving the story time to play out.
