The Night Fire – Audiobook Online
“The Night Fire” is the 22nd book in the Harry Bosch series by Michael Connelly, narrated by Christine Lakin and Titus Welliver, and follows former LAPD detective Harry Bosch as he works with his new partner, LAPD detective Renée Ballard, to solve two interconnected cases.
The novel begins with Bosch attending the funeral of his former mentor, John Jack Thompson. Thompson left Bosch with a murder book- a collection of notes and informant tips that he’d compiled for an unsolved case years ago. After investigating the murder book, Bosch discovers that the case is related to the death of Thompson himself. At the same time, Ballard is investigating a fire at a homeless encampment and the death of John Olivas, a disabled veteran who had been living there. Olivas had been a member of the same unit as Thompson during the Vietnam War, and as Ballard delves deeper into the case, she discovers that Olivas had connections to the murder case in Thompson’s book. Bosch and Ballard team up to solve both cases, despite resistance from their superiors. They work tirelessly to uncover the truth, even as they face danger and unexpected twists and turns along the way. Ultimately, they are able to piece together the connections between the two cases and solve both mysteries.
“The Night Fire” is a complex and compelling mystery novel that fans of the Harry Bosch series will likely enjoy. It features two strong and compelling protagonists working together to solve interconnected cases, and addresses themes of war, trauma, and redemption.

A CrimeReads A selection of the best crime fiction of note.
Harry Bosch and LAPD Detective Renee Ballard meet again in the murder case that haunts Bosch’s mentor who trained him – new from New York Times bestselling author Michael Connelly.
When Harry Bosch was just a rookie homicide detective, he had an inspiring mentor who taught him to take the job on his own and light the never-ending fire of every case. That mentor, John Jack Thompson, is now dead, but after his funeral, his widow gave Bosch a murder book that Thompson had brought with him when he left the LAPD 20 years ago – the case kill an unresolved troubled young man in an alley used for favor drug trafficking.
Bosch brings the murder book to Renée Ballard and asks her to help him figure out what it was about the case that sparked Thompson’s fire all these years ago. As she begins her investigation – while still working on her own cases on the midnight shift – Ballad finds that aspects of the initial investigation don’t fit together.
The bond between Bosch and Ballard deepens as they become a formidable investigative team. And they soon came to a disturbing question: Did Thompson steal the murder book to solve the case in retirement, or to make sure it was never solved?
Written with the tense pacing and masterful suspense that have made Michael Connelly “the hardcore fictional master of our time” (NPR), Night Flame continues the unofficial partnership of Michael Connelly. two detectives determined not to let the fire burn.
Harry Bosch is one of my favorite characters. Connelly did a great job of bringing Bosch and Ballard together to create compelling stories. Both are obsessed with the cases they work on but also motivated to go through with it. The only downside is that Bosch gets older with each new story, which means there’s a limited amount left. Unless Connelly writes some prequel, I’ll be fine.
In my rush to read the next story no reviews now you know why!!! Interesting, fascinating what was read!!! I will definitely continue reading Connelly is a master of his storytelling skills. I the reader was there for the adventure.
