The Nutmeg Of Consolation / Aubrey/Maturin, Book 14 – Audiobook Online

The Nutmeg of Consolation is the fourteenth novel in Patrick O’Brian’s Aubrey/Maturin series. Set in the early 19th century, the novel follows the adventures of Captain Jack Aubrey, Royal Navy, and his friend, ship’s surgeon and intelligence agent Stephen Maturin. At the beginning of the novel, Aubrey, Maturin, and their ship, HMS Surprise, are stranded on an island in the Dutch East Indies. The ship has been badly damaged in a typhoon, and the crew must repair it before they can sail back to England. While they wait for help, they explore the island and encounter a group of Malay pirates who have taken control of a Dutch ship and its crew. Aubrey and Maturin form a plan to take the Dutch ship back and defeat the pirates, but their efforts are complicated by the personal agendas of various crew members. In addition, Aubrey must deal with his own feelings of jealousy and insecurity when he learns that his wife has given birth while he has been away. As the story unfolds, Aubrey and Maturin face numerous challenges, including battles with pirates, a confrontation with a French warship, and a shipwreck that leaves them stranded on a deserted island. Throughout it all, they rely on their friendship and their skills as sailors and strategists to survive. The Nutmeg of Consolation is a thrilling and immersive tale of high adventure on the high seas. Patrick O’Brian’s vivid descriptions of life on a sailing ship, historical accuracy, and complex characterizations make for a compelling and satisfying read.

The Nutmeg Of Consolation / Aubrey/Maturin, Book 14, Audiobook Online By: Patrick O’Brian

When last seen, Jack and Stephen were shipwrecked on a deserted island in the glittering South China Sea.

The Nutmeg of Consolation opens when the castrated build a makeshift ship from the wreckage, only to have it destroyed in a fierce attack by Malay pirates. Only Stephen’s wondrous ingenuity, coupled with the unexpected appearance of one of Jack’s oldest allies, helps them escape and reach suspicious safety in a New York penal colony. South Wales. The fourteenth installment of Patrick O’Brian’s hugely successful Aubrey/Maturin film series.

Patrick O’Brian’s unparalleled ability to weave a story with a vast nautical, natural, political, geographical and naval history, with a wealth of philosophical reflections, subtle humor and mixed emotional contemplation. This book, like the others in the series, offers a stylistic consistency that I’ll definitely watch over and over again. What a spectacular contribution to the literature, entertainment and reflection of this series.

Patrick Tull does his usual wonderful job in narrating this story. This book starts from where the last book was left unfinished on a deserted island, building a boat to escape. I love the depiction of Stephen and Martin on their naturalist hike. I found the description of Nutmeg as a scented vessel delightful and then how they had to “calm down” The surprise came back to her. Stories and great battles at sea in the strange Malay waters.
