The Professor By Robert Bailey – Audiobook Online

The Professor is the first book in the McMurtrie and Drake Legal Thrillers series written by Robert Bailey. Set in Alabama, the novel follows the story of Thomas Jackson McMurtrie, a former law professor turned attorney, as he takes on a high-stakes legal battle against a powerful corporation.

The story begins with Tom McMurtrie, who is now in his sixties and retired from teaching law at the University of Alabama. He had once been a renowned trial lawyer, but a tragic event in his past forced him to leave his legal career behind. However, when his former student and close friend, Bocephus Haynes, asks for his help in a wrongful death case against a major pharmaceutical company, Tom reluctantly agrees to come out of retirement.

Bocephus is representing Ginny Stroud, whose husband died from cancer allegedly caused by a drug manufactured by Drummond Pharmaceuticals. The company is represented by a formidable legal team led by Jack Willistone, a cunning and ruthless lawyer known for his win-at-all-costs mentality. As Tom and Bocephus dig deeper into the case, they uncover evidence that suggests Drummond Pharmaceuticals knowingly concealed the dangers of their drug.

As the trial progresses, Tom faces numerous challenges both inside and outside the courtroom. He must confront his own demons from the past while battling against powerful adversaries who will stop at nothing to protect their interests. Alongside Bocephus and his team, Tom fights for justice and seeks to expose the truth behind Drummond Pharmaceuticals’ actions.

Throughout the book, Bailey skillfully weaves together elements of legal drama, suspense, and personal redemption. The characters are well-developed and relatable, with Tom McMurtrie serving as a compelling protagonist who undergoes significant growth throughout the story. The courtroom scenes are intense and gripping, showcasing Bailey’s knowledge of legal procedures and strategies.

“The Professor” explores themes of corporate greed, corruption, and the pursuit of justice. It delves into the complexities of the legal system and the challenges faced by attorneys fighting against powerful entities. The book also touches on personal relationships, loyalty, and the importance of standing up for what is right.

In conclusion, “The Professor” by Robert Bailey is a captivating legal thriller that combines compelling characters, a gripping plot, and thought-provoking themes. It is a must-read for fans of the genre and sets the stage for an engaging series featuring McMurtrie and Drake.

Law professor Thomas Jackson McMurtrie literally wrote the book on evidence in the state of Alabama. But when a power-hungry colleague uses the recent clash between McMurtrie and stubborn schoolboy Rick Drake to end his career, he doesn’t know what to do next.

Meanwhile, a devastating truck crash in Henshaw, Alabama, leaves a young family dead. Drake, now a novice lawyer, takes up the case against the freight carrier and quickly begins to uncover the truth behind the tragedy buried in a tangled web of arson, bribery and greed. On the eve of his trial and with his case unraveling amid a dangerous cover-up that threatens to silence his star witnesses, Drake realizes that only his estranged mentor, Professor McMurtrie, can help him now.

With all to lose and only justice to gain, will McMurtrie and Drake overcome bad blood to defeat a merciless foe? Can the professor turn back the clock and get back all that he lost?

My God, what a legit horror movie! This is Robert Bailey’s first novel, but the second will be released in about six weeks. I listen to a lot of legal thrillers, and this is the best courtroom drama I’ve heard in a long time. The characters are well developed and lively. The thrill can be felt. Eric G. Dove’s narration is amazing. Audiobooks are not better than Professor. Other than 68-year-old Professor McMurtrie, my favorite character is his former law student and current litigator, Bocephus Haynes. The professor has my unqualified recommendation for all novel lovers

What an enchanting story, turn the page to the edge of the chair and oh my gosh, it looks like it could be the story that happened. The revenge aspect is an absolute thing that we all wish we could get rid of. What a great novel!!
When you read to the end, you can re-read it, that sucks!

This is a great book! The narrator is excellent!!! I didn’t really expect this to be a “my genre” book, but I was wrong!! I really enjoyed it!
