“We need books like this.” (Steven Pinker)
Finally, the stupidity explained! And by some of the smartest people in the world, including Daniel Kahneman, Dan Ariely, Alison Gopnik, Howard Gardner, Antonio Damasio, Aaron James and Ryan Holiday.
And so I declare, fools of all kinds and fools of all kinds, this is your moment of glory: this book speaks only to you. But you won’t recognize yourself….
Idiocy is all around us, from the co-worker who keeps pressing “answer all” to an old high school friend who posts a conspiracy theory on Facebook. But to beat it, we must first understand it. In The Psychology of Stupidity, some of the world’s leading psychologists and thinkers – including Nobel laureates and bestselling authors – will show you:
Why smart people sometimes believe in complete nonsense;
How our lazy brains make us make bad decisions;
Why trying to argue with idiots is a trap;
How media manipulation and internet overstimulation make us stupid;
Why the stupidest people don’t think they’re stupid.
Their wisdom and wit is a panacea to our grieving souls and a beacon of hope in a world full of fools.
Book was OK. Some of the “smartest people” are very narrow minded about political figures. I’m sure they could use a better example of stupidity than Trump. In a sense, that seems to be the goal of this book.
Reading this book can only be beneficial in navigating relationships, our own stubborn views, and business, as it provides a clever perspective on human behavior. The book is both entertaining and informative, and if you still don’t think that you have some level of foolishness in you after reading it once, it’s worth reading again.
