As with his other sigma force books, James Rollins does a masterful job of blending fact and fiction. I feel like I learned some history reading his books. This one has the action you would expect from sigma force. The storytelling is excellent – each person has a different “voice” that always brings the book to life. Between the narrator and the plot, this book kept me hooked. I will definitely recommend this version to friends and family.

I’m a microbiologist, so the premise in this book about a rogue microorganism causing all kinds of grief is really intriguing. During this adventure, Sigma Force visits Britain, Egypt, Rwanda and the North Pole. The bad guy leader really thinks he’ll save the world if he executes his plan to use the archaea creature. The Society haunts us in two former agents working for the bad guys at the helm. I know the bad guy’s leader’s name is Simon Hartnell, but not saying that the leader’s bad guy sounds more fun and that gives him less power. A visit to a remote part of Akagera National Park in Rwanda is a great addition to the story. I love how much thought it takes to find a solution to the modern plague caused by archaea. As always, I love the last chapter in the book where Rollins explains fact from fiction.
