Thrilling story with a lot action involved is usually the routine with Mary Burton and the author has launched a series with this opening book. The previous brilliant works like The Last Move and Cut and Run were single books full of crime chase. The “Forgotten Files” take the old cases and then attach the threads to the current files. 

A prostitute gets killed and this one is not the first case that the Virginia police department has witnessed. Someone has been killing the teenage girls for more than a decade now; the department has named the killer as “The Shark”. The man shows no mercy and no one has escaped those claws of death except one who works for the department now i.e Riley Tatum. She does not remember any of the details from the incident all she knows that she saw two men playing cards, why or how she survived no one knows.

 Clay Bowman knows the psyche of the killer all too well and thinks that it was a mishaps because of which Riley got out of Shark’s hands and he is still looking for her. The Shield Security department along with the new chief Clay Bowman starts keeping an eye on Riley who could possibly be Shark’s new fun toy. The novel was more about psychological trauma and the blood on the scene was really teasing to the mind, Christina Traister’s voice has the pinch in it to create such imaginative scenes in the mind. Thus Christina’s narration is the best possible thing the fans can have along with this masterly written and well arranged thriller.
