The Soul of Power – Audiobook Online

The final book in The Waking Land trilogy, The Soul of Power, follows Sophy Dunbarron, an illegitimate daughter of a king who becomes a monarch after becoming embroiled in Elanna Valtai’s revolution. Sophy quickly discovers that keeping a crown is quite different from wearing it, as she navigates a complex and thorny political maze, with half of her court seeking to have her deposed, and the other half questioning her every decision. With resources already stretched thin by war, an influx of magic-bearing refugees, and a huge secret that could destroy her hold on the crown forever, Sophy must find a way to establish herself as a true leader. The book is a well-written, superbly narrated tale that challenges societal norms and explores equality and justice themes. The reviewer praises the book’s character development and hopes to read more books by the author, narrated by the same person.

A young woman learns the true nature of power – her own and that of others – in the gripping conclusion of the Land of Awakening trilogy.

Sophy Dunbarron – the illegitimate daughter of a king who never was – has always felt like an imposter. Separated from her biological mother, raised by grieving parents over the loss of their real daughter, and unrecognized by her father, Sophy only desires a place and a family to call her own. But fate had other ideas. Caught up in Elanna Valtai’s revolution, Sophy has become the reigning king of a once divided country – a role she has been prepared her whole life for.

But as she quickly discovered, wearing a crown was completely different from keeping a crown. With an influx of magic-carrying refugees across the border, the resources that had already been depleted by the war were being stretched to the point of exhaustion. Half of the nobility in the court wanted her to be deposed, and the other half questioned her every decision. And every third person seems to be naturally displaying magical power.

When Elanna was captured and taken to the Paladis, Sophy’s last ally seemed to have disappeared. Now, she must single-handedly navigate a political labyrinth that has become increasingly complex and thorny. And worse still, Sophy is hiding a huge secret – a secret that could forever destroy her ability to hold the fragile crown.

“Sophy is truly a feminist hero: she advocates for equality and justice for all – themes throughout the novel – while challenging societal norms.” (List)

Great book!
The book is very good and very well written. The narration is amazing,! She made me really get to know the characters. I can’t wait to read another book from this author. I hope there are other stories read by the nearest narrator.

This trilogy is well worth reading. The book itself has good characters, the plot follows the theme, and the ideal moral values are still valid. Don’t get me wrong, the actual characters in these books are well developed and well done, but the author stays true to the general values and morals of the story depicted, this is why Why do I say the books themselves have good character. For the most part, a good reading feel.
