The Story Girl By L. M. Montgomery – Audiobook Online

The Story Girl is a novel written by L. M. Montgomery, the renowned author of the beloved *Anne of Green Gables* series. Published in 1911, it is the first book in the *King Family* series. Set in the fictional community of Carlisle, Prince Edward Island, Canada, the story revolves around a group of young cousins and their adventures during a summer spent together.

The protagonist of the novel is Beverly King, a young boy who, along with his brother Felix, goes to live with their Aunt Janet and Uncle Alec at their family home known as “The Story Girl House.” The house gets its name from their cousin Sara Stanley, who is referred to as “The Story Girl” due to her remarkable storytelling abilities.

Beverly and Felix quickly become enamored with their new surroundings and the lively company of their cousins: Felicity, Cecily, Dan, and Sara. The children spend their days exploring the picturesque landscapes of Prince Edward Island, engaging in imaginative play, and listening to Sara’s captivating tales.

Sara Stanley is depicted as an enchanting and charismatic character who possesses a gift for storytelling. Her stories range from whimsical fairy tales to thrilling adventures, captivating her audience and transporting them into different worlds. The children eagerly gather around her every evening to hear her tales unfold.

Throughout the novel, Montgomery weaves together various narratives told by Sara, each with its own unique charm and moral lesson. These stories not only entertain the children but also teach them valuable life lessons about love, friendship, bravery, and forgiveness.

As the summer progresses, the children encounter numerous adventures and challenges. They explore hidden treasures in an old attic, befriend a reclusive neighbor named Mr. Campbell, participate in a local talent show, and even experience a haunting encounter at an abandoned house.

Amidst these adventures, Montgomery delves into themes of family dynamics, childhood innocence, and the power of storytelling. The novel beautifully captures the essence of childhood, with its sense of wonder, imagination, and the bonds formed between young friends.

The Story Girl is a heartwarming tale that showcases Montgomery’s exceptional storytelling skills. Through her vivid descriptions and engaging characters, she transports readers to a simpler time and place, where the magic of childhood reigns supreme.

Overall, *The Story Girl* is a delightful coming-of-age novel that celebrates the power of imagination and the importance of family and friendship. It is a timeless classic that continues to captivate readers of all ages.

Sara Stanley is only 14 years old but she can weave irresistible stories. In the charming town of Carlisle, children and adults alike flock from miles around to hear her enchanting stories. And when Bev King and his younger brother, Felix, come to vacation, they too are captivated by Story Girl. Whether she’s leading them on an exciting misadventure or retelling timeless tales—from the terrifying “Family Ghost Story” to the fanciful “How to Spot kiss out” and “Rachel Ward’s Blue Chest” bittersweet – Storytelling girls both have their audience hanging over every word.

I am a fan of L.M. Montgomery since the age of 10. Now, as an adult, I think I appreciate her even more. While Anne’s books will always be my favorites, I had to read this one just because I knew it was the author’s own favorite.

Although some reviews call this book condescending, confusing, or too sweet, I find it almost a reflection of my own childhood with my own group of siblings and friends – just taking context 100 years ago. You have to keep in mind that these are stories written for children and certainly serve as a role model for them to have fun doing the right thing.

It’s interesting to hear. The stories are interesting and creative. Children’s lives are very interesting. Their comradeship is felt throughout the book.

I am a huge fan of LM Montgomery and this story did not disappoint. Looking forward to reading more of her work! Montgomery did it again. Her characters come to life and I can’t wait to read the sequel.

I just finished this for the second time. This narrator has a beautiful voice and speaks beautifully so she loves to listen. What a lovely book. L M Montgomery does it again. Vivid characters and beautiful stories
