The Stranger You Know By Jane Casey – Audiobook Online

The Stranger You Know is the fourth book in the Maeve Kerrigan series written by Jane Casey. This crime fiction novel was published in 2013 and continues the story of Detective Sergeant Maeve Kerrigan as she investigates a series of murders in London.

The book begins with a chilling prologue that introduces the reader to a young woman named Rebecca Haworth, who is brutally attacked and left for dead. The story then shifts to present-day London, where Maeve Kerrigan is assigned to the case. As she delves deeper into the investigation, she discovers that Rebecca’s attack bears striking similarities to a string of unsolved murders from several years ago.

Maeve teams up with her colleague, Detective Inspector Josh Derwent, to unravel the mystery behind these crimes. They soon realize that they are dealing with a cunning and elusive serial killer who has managed to evade capture for years. As they dig deeper into the past, they uncover shocking secrets and hidden connections that lead them closer to the truth.

Throughout the investigation, Maeve faces numerous challenges both professionally and personally. She must navigate office politics, deal with her complicated relationship with Derwent, and confront her own fears and insecurities. As the body count rises and the pressure mounts, Maeve becomes more determined than ever to bring the killer to justice.

As Maeve gets closer to identifying the murderer, she finds herself in grave danger. The killer becomes aware of her pursuit and starts targeting her directly, making it clear that she is getting too close for comfort. Maeve must use all her skills and instincts to outsmart the killer before she becomes his next victim.

The Stranger You Know is a gripping and suspenseful novel that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. Jane Casey expertly weaves together complex characters, intricate plotlines, and unexpected twists to create a compelling crime thriller. The book explores themes of obsession, manipulation, and the darkness that can lurk within seemingly ordinary individuals.

Overall, The Stranger You Know is a must-read for fans of crime fiction and the Maeve Kerrigan series. Jane Casey’s writing style is engaging and immersive, drawing readers into the world of her characters and keeping them hooked until the very end.

He meets women. He earned their trust. He killed them. That’s all London police detective Maeve Kerrigan knows about the man she’s hunting. Three women have been strangled in their home, and it appears this is the work of the same brutal killer. There was no sign of a break-in, every indication that the women were willing to let their attackers in. The victim’s neighbors and friends don’t seem to remember anything unusual or suspicious, and Maeve has little idea how to continue the investigation. Then the evidence begins to point to a shocking suspect: DCI Josh Derwent, Maeve’s partner in the police force. Maeve refuses to believe he can be involved, but how much does she really understand him? The secrets Derwent had long hidden are coming back to haunt him, and the more Maeve knows about his partner’s past, the harder it will be to dismiss him as a suspect. After all, this is not the first time Derwent has been charged with murder.

Jane Casey returns to her best novel yet in The Stranger You Know, a tense thriller and realistic portrayal of complex, all-human characters.

I just don’t think Derwent is that bad. I think Maeve and Derwent really have feelings for each other and that’s what makes it so difficult for Maeve. This book is about what shaped Josh Derwent. I think he’s amazing and the play between Maeve and Derwent makes the murder investigation in these books even better.

I love this book. The narration is great and the story is the best! Definitely worth the credit!

Maeve Kerrigan is a sly and slightly rogue London police detective tasked with finding the brutal serial killer of a young woman when she is having problems of her own, not problems. her partner, DCI Josh Derwent, was the suspect. Derwent is a complex character: egotistical, rude, sometimes demeaning, but sometimes thoughtful and capable of tenderness – in his own right.
He is sent home in an attempt to stop him from sabotaging the investigation while she is assigned to another team. Her loyalty to finding the truth, protecting her partner, and saving her job pulled her in all directions until through her good old-fashioned police work, a satisfying ending.

As with many great series, the characters are evolving into familiar old friends, I would be sad when there are no more unread ones! The narrator is amazing, (I searched for her and in fact she is as beautiful as her voice is) I intend to look for other books she has told, as she added so much into this series!

The amazing story with inspiring narration makes this audiobook a real gift! I very rarely listen to a series, one after another…. but that’s exactly what I wanted to do with this series.
