The Swap By Robyn Harding – Audiobook Online
The Swap is a psychological thriller novel written by Robyn Harding. The story revolves around two families, the Lowes and the Blooms, who become entangled in a dangerous web of secrets and lies after their teenage daughters decide to swap houses for a week.
The book begins by introducing the readers to the Lowe family, consisting of husband Brian, wife Nicole, and their daughter Winnie. They live in a luxurious house in an upscale neighborhood. On the other hand, the Bloom family comprises husband Tony, wife Jess, and their daughter Rhea. They reside in a modest home in a less affluent area.
Winnie and Rhea are best friends who attend the same high school but come from different social backgrounds. Winnie is popular and wealthy, while Rhea is more reserved and struggles financially. One day, they come up with the idea of swapping houses during spring break as a way to experience each other’s lives.
Initially, the swap seems harmless and exciting for both girls. However, as they settle into their new environments, they begin to uncover dark secrets about their respective families. Winnie discovers that Rhea’s father, Tony, is involved in illegal activities and has connections to dangerous individuals. Meanwhile, Rhea stumbles upon evidence suggesting that Brian Lowe may be having an affair.
As the story progresses, tensions rise within both families. Nicole becomes increasingly suspicious of Brian’s behavior and starts investigating his actions. Simultaneously, Jess becomes worried about Tony’s involvement in criminal activities and fears for her family’s safety.
The situation escalates when Rhea goes missing during her stay at the Lowe residence. Panic ensues as both families desperately search for her while trying to keep their own secrets hidden. The police become involved, further complicating matters.
Throughout the novel, Robyn Harding skillfully weaves together themes of deception, betrayal, and the lengths people will go to protect themselves and their loved ones. The Swap explores the consequences of secrets and the impact they can have on relationships and lives.

Low Morrison is not your average teenager. You can blame her hippie parents or her short height or her dull, isolated homeland on an island in the Pacific Northwest. But whatever the reason, Low doesn’t fit in – and Freya, a once-popular social media influencer, now owns a pottery studio in town.
After signing up for a class, Low quickly fell in love with Freya. And Freya, excited by Low’s adoration, is forced to share her darkest secrets and deepest desires. In the end, the two felt familiar…that is, until Jamie walked through the studio door. Desperate to have children, she and her husband moved to the island in the hope of a clean environment that would lead to pregnancy. Freya and Jamie quickly became friends, as did their husbands, leaving Low alone once again.
Then one night, after a drunken dinner party, Freya offered to change partners. It should have been a harmless jaunt between consenting adults, a night of debauchery they would leave behind, but when one of the women became pregnant, Low found the perfect opportunity. to vent her growing resentment.
Robyn Harding delivers her acclaimed storytelling, hailed as “fast-paced, suspenseful, heart-pounding” by Taylor Jenkins Reid, New York Times bestselling author of Daisy Jones and the Six , for this dark and suspenseful thriller for fans of Megan Miranda and Lisa Jewell.
I listen to several audiobooks a week. Most of them
Is mysterious/thriller. Most lots are pretty much the same and predictable at this point. I often give up books midway due to poor writing. But this one interests me with a different plot. If you like the story of a female social killer (like me)… then this book is told from the perspective of the people in her life.
NO SPOILERS! This is exciting to hear.. a great combination of psychopathy and narcissism at its best. It’s no mystery but it’s thrilling to hear. I recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys domestic thrillers and seeing behind other people’s doors.
This is the first book I read by this author and it won’t be the last. Character development is on the right track – a narcissist, an outcast teenager, a woman with low self-esteem, a struggling novelist, and an ex-husband who is a hockey player. NHL hockey was mistreated. Phew 😅, I’m so glad Maggie ended up with the person she did. Thank you Lo!
This is a good audiobook with an interesting plot that keeps me interested. A bit long, but I would recommend this book. It teaches you to examine your relationships and think about the impact a bad decision or impulsive action can have on your relationship.
